Norman Hardie, Jason Bangerter and John Bil among 2017 OHI Gold Awardees

Norm Hardie at Somewhereness, October 2016.

Winemaker, pizza baker and good friend of Good Food Revolution’s Norm Hardie, of Prince Edward County’s Norman Hardie winery is among this year’s recipients of the Ontario Hostelry Institute’s annual Gold Awards. Other honourees familiar to GFR readers include Langdon Hall’s Chef Jason Bangerter, Honest Weight owner John Bil and Ottawa chef and restaurateur Marc Lepine of Atelier.

Other 2017 Gold Award honourees are Paul Hollands, CEO and Chairman of A&W, Ameer Wakil, CEO of White Oaks Resort in Niagara, Craig Youdale, Dean of the Canadian Food and Wine Institute at Niagara College, and Owen Roberts of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists and the University of Guelph.

The honourees were announced on February 2nd by OHI Chair Dr. J. Charles Grieco. The recipients were chosen by collaborative process involving past Gold Awardees.  (I know this because, full disclosure, I am one of them (2016) and was involved.) The awards will be formally presented at the annual Ontario Hostelry Institute Gold Awards Gala dinner on April 20th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto.
