Shooting the breeze with Simon Toneycliffe of Whitehaven Wine Company at Toronto’s New Zealand Wine Show.

Here at Good Food Revolution we spend a fair bit of time speaking with New Zealand Winemakers about the Sauvignon Blanc varietal, and I guess that makes sense seeing as the grape makes up some 87% of all of the country’s exported wine.

While it’s easy for snooty critics to criticise this wave of Sauvignon Blanc (something I have been guilty of myself in years past), if one digs a little deeper there are some pretty damn interesting examples making their way into our market.

With this in mind we took some time to speak with Simon Toneycliffe from Whitehaven Wine Company when he was in town for the New Zealand wine show, and naturally conversation drifted into discussion of Sauvignon Blanc…
