Baud Family Jura

Last week we hosted Clementine Baud in Toronto to showcase the full Domaine Baud range of traditional and authentic wines from the Jura region of France. The wines of Jura have been a very hot ticket on the best wine lists of “gastronomic trend setting” restaurants of London, New York and Copenhagen. Today, we are pleased to be offering these wines to the most exciting wine focused restaurants in Ontario. Most importantly through our Domaine Direct Private Order Service, delivering cases to homes and offices across Ontario. This collection of wines represents some of the most exciting values of French wines we have seen in a long time. They are a pleasure at the table now, but would certainly add some “street cred” to your cellar. Please find notes and pricing on the available wines below, then click through to ORDER NOW.

Côtes du Jura and Chateau Chalon Vin Jaune Selections

Cotes du Jura Chalon Baud

Domaine Baud Brut Blanc de Blanc, AOC Cremant de Jura NV  $21.95
A forward nose of apple fruits with citrus, toasted brioche and a stricking minerality. The delicate cremant sparks a great balance between creaminess and vivacity. This wine is very versatile at the table and you can drink this from appetisers all the way through to desert.
If you like Champagne, but not the price tag… then this is the wine of choice for you.

Domaine Baud Brut Sauvage Cremant de Jura $26.95
A rich know-how of seven generations is behind this lively and dry Crémant du Jura offering a nose marked with ripe apple and toast. Chardonnay (70%) and Pinot Noir (30%) are united in a blend which ages at least 24 months in the cellar. It is then disgorged and injected with a little bit of shipping liqueur. The low sugar level obtained yields a rather dry bubbly of great purity.

Domaine Baud Chardonnay – AOC Cotes de Jura Blanc 2013  $21.95
This is a classic Burgundian style fermentation that shows the true terroir of the special Jura soils. Red apples, butterscotch and crushed rocks dominate the palate and nose. Extemly versatile and gastronomic.
Domaine Baud Cuvée Tradition – AOC Cotes de Jura Blanc 2012   $25.95
This is a blend of Savagnin and Chardonnay aged in barrel for 3 years. The Savagnin is traditionally left to oxidize where the chardonnay is topped up and kept fresh. The resulting blend is like mixing Meursault with Vin Jaune at a fraction of the price. Roasted apples, baked nuts, candied lemons with a sherry like nose but full and fresh Chardonnay / Savagnin palate. Long, beautiful and delicious.
A great stepping stone into the word of Jura whites.
Domaine Baud Poulsard – AOC Cotes de Jura Rouge 2012  $21.95
This is the lightest coloured of the reds, reminding one of a Pinot Noir meets gamay profile. Smokey raspberries with dried roses. The palate is fresh, light-medium in body with tones of fruit and herbaceous power.
So fine and satisfying.
Domaine Baud Trousseau – AOC Cotes de Jura Rouge 2014  $24.95
The darker and more concentrated of the reds, but still in a light profile. Think cool climate Syrah blended with Pinot Noir. Very refined and elegant with strawberries, spices, herbs and smokey
minerals. Pure, long and delicious.
Domaine Baud AOC Chateau Chalon Vin Jaune – Grand Cru Jura 2004  $64.95 (6 pack)
This is from the Baud Family block on the Grand Cru appellation of Chateau Chalon. Apples, dried tropical fruits, roasted nuts, candied lemons, and spices are packed in this beautiful and classic oxidized wine. The most famous pairings are with cheese boards before or after dinner and of course with Roasted Chicken and Morrels, using a splash of vin jaune for the sauce.
