Rebecca LeHeup is the executive director of the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance, and is very excited about her organization’s new program to celebrate and encourage local food in the province’s restaurants: Feast ON. I met with the head of OCTA at Richmond Station in downtown Toronto to talk about the program. The restaurant, which has always committed to serving food (and wine) grown with love from nearby producers, was one of the first to sign up to Feast ON program, so we had planned to shoot the video interview below there. What we didn’t plan on was a very busy restaurant, so we shot the piece below on the (slightly) less noisy street outside. In it LeHeup explains how Feast ON works and why, unlike previous local food programs, restaurant participation is verified for the benefit of consumers and farmers alike.
