The Case For Wine celebrates Barolo for the holidays.

The Case For Wine has just received as significant collection of wines from five top growers in Piemonte: Luciano Sandrone, Gianfranco Bovio, Voerzio Martini, Mauro Veglio and Orlando Pecchenino, as usual, allocations are small, critical acclaim is very high, and demand often outpaces supply. All wines ready to ship by December 7

Vintage notes

  • 2013 – A cool growing season and late harvest produced gorgeous Barolos with striking aromatics and silky tannins.
  • 2014 – is a vintage where the purity of the Nebbiolo shows its best, finesse and elegance are the hallmarks of this vintage and they are linked with the purity of the fruit.

Luciano Sandrone

“I can’t think of too many producers in Piedmont (or anywhere, for that matter) that have been as consistently brilliant over that arc of time.” – Vinous

    • 2013 Barolo Aleste – $184.95
    • 2013 Barolo Le Vigne – $159.95
  • 2016 Nebbiolo Valmaggiore – $59.95

Voerzio Martini

“Voerzio” references Gianni Voerzio, whose family has made wine in the area since 1950. The original Voerzio family holdings were split in 1987, when brothers Roberto and Gianni opted to go their separate ways.

  • 2013 Barolo La Serra – $104.95

Gianfranco Bovio

A delicious old school style Barolo made from grapes grown in La Morra, Bovio brings out the more feminine characteristics of Nebbiolo, typically displaying notes of earth, flowers, and elegance.

  • 2013 Barolo – $54.95
  • 2013 Barolo Arborina – $72.95

Pecchenino

“I was completely blown away by the Barolo I tasted from the Pecchenino Brothers. This family estate is far better known for their Dolcetto, but in the past few years they have made important strides with their Barolo.” – Vinous

  • 2013 Barolo Le Coste de Monforte – $94.95
  • 2013 Barolo Bussia – $99.95

Mauro Veglio

“These are some of the prettiest wines I have tasted from Veglio, the 2014’s are bright, perfumed and super classy in every way.” – Vinous

  • 2014 Barolo – $62.95
