This week, Maurizio Rosso comes from the heart of the Barolo area in Italy, and gets “cheeky” with Lifford TV while speaking about the wonderful family wines of Gigi Rosso.

This estate was founded in 1971 by father Luigi ‘Gigi’ Rosso while the day to day management of the estate falls to his two sons Maurizio and Claudio, winemaker and vineyard manager respectively. Maurizio has a firm understanding of the world around him and the styles of wines that are out there.

Their winery in Castiglione Falletto, the heart of the Barolo area, is the center of vinification for the grapes which they produce on four estates. Each one a cru, accurately selected from the exposures most profoundly given to vine growing, among the hills of the Langhe. The experienced choice of the land, the passionate care of the vineyards, as well as the careful selection of grapes during the harvest allow Gigi Rosso to have at their disposition approximately 300.000 kg. of splendid grapes each year. Together with their rigorous respect for local wine making tradition and 40 years of enological experience, guarantee an outstanding result for each wine they produce.
