by Tawse Winery, a ‘Certified Good Food Fighter

Tawse Winery is pleased to announce the addition of our 2010 Sketches of Niagara Chardonnay to the LCBO Vintages Essentials collection, starting April 2012.

The 2010 Sketches of Niagara Chardonnay was made in the same traditional method as our premium single vineyard Chardonnays and is an outstanding value at $19.95. The grapes were hand-picked and sorted from select vineyards in the Niagara region, and the wine was then barrel aged in 100% French oak for 10 -12 months. Minimal intervention during the winemaking process coupled with great vineyard sites help to produce a Chardonnay that truly exemplifies the wonderful terroir Niagara has to offer.

SPECIAL CONTEST TO CELEBRATE

2010 Sketches of Niagara Chardonnay is now available in the Vintages section at LCBO retailers across Ontario (LCBO#89037, $19.95). To celebrate, Tawse Winery has launched an online contest, “Tell us why Sketches Chardonnay is the Essential wine for you?” Customers are invited to visit www.tawsewinery.ca to enter. Entries will be judged by proprietors Moray & Joanne Tawse, and the contest winner will receive 4 tickets to our 2012 Summer Solstice Concert, featuring Jim Cuddy and Friends. Contest closes May 27, 2012.

Tawse is a family-owned estate winery situated on the lower slopes of the Niagara Escarpment. At Tawse we unite traditional winemaking techniques with state-of-the-art technology to create wines of exceptional elegance, depth and character. Our fruit is harvested from old-growth, low-yield vines and gently handled using natural gravity flow and geothermic energy. We apply rigorous organic and biodynamic methods to every aspect of our wine production and Ecocert and Demeter seals now appear on all Tawse vintages made from our biodynamic vineyards. Tawse was named ‘Canadian Winery of the Year’ by Canadian Wine Access Magazine both in 2010 and 2011- the first time an Ontario winery has won this distinction two years in a row. Also in 2011, Winemaker Paul Pender was named Winemaker of the Year at the Ontario Wine Awards.
