Look for the MOMI Maremma Toscana 2014 in the February 3rd LCBO Vintages release.

In this Saturday’s VINTAGES release, one of our wines was selected to be the revered “Wine of the Month” – so there should be plenty to go around!

One of Italy’s oldest families, Guicciardini Strozzi, can trace it’s heritage to the Medici family, and hence the Mona Lisa. The winery was founded in 994, yes, over 1,000 years ago! If you walk the streets of Florence, you will notice that one of the main streets carries their name.

All this to say that they have a long history in Tuscany and are proud to make the best wine possible. MOMI comes from their estate in the Maremma, Tuscany’s Mediterranean coast, which despite the high temperatures during the day, enjoys cooler nights which gives a freshness to the wines of the area. A “Super Tuscan” blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Montepulciano, this generous red fills the mouth with vivid fruit and silky tannins. Veteran wine critics James Suckling and David Lawrason both seemed to really enjoy the wine and awarded it 92 points and 91 points respectively. Read their full reviews below.

At $20 a bottle, you’ll want to pick up this incredible value by the case and enjoy it as your party wine!

Sincerely,

Guicciardini Strozzi

MOMI Maremma Toscana 2014

Tasting Note:

“Pretty wine with dark berry, spice and chocolate aromas and flavors. Full to medium body, silky tannins and a fruity finish. It is a blend of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, and montepulciano d’abruzzo. Drink now.”

Score: 92

(James Suckling, jamessuckling.com)

“In the warmer Maremma zone near the coast Tuscan reds become more generous and softer. Yet this fine effort still maintains Italian authenticity and some refinement. It sports a nicely ripe plum/raspberry fruit nose with some florality, a touch of wet bark earthiness and sweet spice. It is medium-full bodied, nicely plush and well balanced without being too hot or sweet. Some heat on the finish. Very good length. Tasted January 2018.”

Score: 91

(David Lawrason, WineAlign.com)

Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Montepulciano.
Region: Tuscany, Italy
Price: $19.95 (per bottle)
