Noble Estates presents the wines of André Hueston Mack, former sommelier at Per Se.

NOBLE TO YOUR DOOR: FORMER PER SE SOMMELIER TURNS WINEMAKER

Despite having a successful career with an investment bank in New York City, André Hueston Mack decided to leave his job to pursue his passion for wine. He began to work as a sommelier at Thomas Keller’s world-renowned The French Laundry and then went on to accept the position of Head Sommelier at Keller’s equally famed Per Se in New York City, where he managed a 1800 selection award-winning wine list and consulted with Chef Keller on menu and pairing development regularly.

His “Garage Winery” named Mouton Noir, sources fruit from some of the best vineyards in Washington & the Willamette Valley in Oregon.

For myself, his wines have always delivered great characteristics that are typical of the terroir where they are made. Serious wines with a tongue in cheek sense of humour is the best way I can describe Andre’s well-made wines.

Horseshoes & Handgrenades – $24.99
Horseshoes & Handgrenades is fruit-driven, full-bodied complex red blend sourced from Southern Oregon and Red Mountain Washington. The rich, ripe, voluptuous fruit comes from Oregon Syrah with just enough Washington Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to give it complexity and structure. The name comes from the close proximity of the vineyards that are located in both states.

2015 Other People’s Pinot Noir – $34.99
The fruit is sourced from several of the finest vineyards in the Willamette Valley, it is this combination of grapes from a variety of appellations that creates a wine that is broad and complex with many layers. Aged in French oak for 10 months, it is a classic Oregon Pinot at a great price.
