Heirloom Hurrah Tomato Tasting & Harvest Carnevale at Vicki’s Veggies
August 31st & September 1st 2013, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This year on the Labour Day weekend Vicki’s Veggies will not only once again host their annual Heirloom Hurrah Tomato Tasting but celebrate the season with the Harvest Carnevale Food Extravaganza. A sumptuous tasting festival in the Chefs’ tent highlighting local, seasonal foods prepared throughout the day.

A very kid-friendly event featuring entertainment, wagon rides and demonstrations. Stay tuned for the all-star chef line-up, canning and preservation demos and more!

Calling all Chefs!

Come and take the challenge of competing this year in the 2nd Annual County Chopped cooking competition — Prince Edward County’s version of the popular Food Network television show.   This live version of Chopped is held under the big tent with an enthusiastic cheering crowd. Each chef will have a mystery basket, a BBQ and an hour to wow the celebrity judges.

Reigning Champaign, Matt DeMille , executive chef of Pomodoro Trattoria is revving to go in this fun throw down of local ingredients on the BBQ.

SJB Headshot 06_30_2010Comedian Sandy Jobin-Bevans will MC and keep the show lively and entertaining. Celebrity judges for this year’s event are Chef Joshna Maharaj, Toronto Life food editor, Rachel Heinrichs. and food writer & From the Farm Cooking School owner, Cynthia Peters. The BBQs are being donated by Wellington Home Hardware and will be auctioned off after the show with the proceeds going to support a local food bank.

Entrants can submit a video (Vine, Instagram, etc), a photo or a creative paragraph (max 300 words) to lindsay@tastethecounty.ca. The deadline for submissions is September 10 and entrants must be available to compete on site Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 2:30 – 4:15 pm. Taste the County reserves the right to post entries online.
