Jamie Kennedy presents an Evening of Nouvelle Cuisine with Gerry Shikatani

Thursday September 24, 2013, 6:30 pm.

Join us at Gilead as Jamie Kennedy presents a dinner celebrating Nouvelle Cuisine. The term conjures up the work of gastronomic heroes like Paul Bocuse, Alain Chapel, Les Frères Troisgros and Michel Couvreur, to mention a few. They represent a school of thought that emerged in the 70’s, that while respecting the tenets of “la grande cuisine”, yearned to offer their guests la cuisine “grande mère”. Dishes that took inspiration from village-based tradition but were then elevated with a light, delicate touch that celebrated the rich diverse regionality of this quality food-obsessed land.

This evening will be animated with insights by Gerry Shikatani, one of Canada’s most experienced culinary critics, whose work has appeared in many publications including Toronto Life, Saveur, and the Globe and Mail. This is another in our ongoing Local Food Movement event series.
