Back in December I had the pleasure of tasting through the entire range of Bertrand Machard De Gramont’s wines at Mellecey Wine Group‘s impressive Burgundy tasting, and so this week I was honoured to be able to sit down for a one-on-one tasting with Bertrand’s daughter (and now the house’s Winemaker) Axelle.
After tasting through her wines we spoke about her family’s winemaking history, the oft-forgotten pleasures of the Aligoté varietal, and the important role of massal selection in the preservation of Burgundy’s historied vineyards.
