What happens when TUM (Toronto Underground Market) collides with Food Truck Eats? An explosion of chefs, wineries, foods & flavours and an event that sold out in minutes. With over 3000 people attending, this was one serious Street Food Party.

As the Social Bee (aka Events, Marketing & Sales) for Rosewood Estates Winery I have the task to work at fun events such as the most recent Street Food Block Party. Held in the one of a kind Evergreen Brickworks the event surely did not disappoint. With a hungry crowd, attendees got to experience food trucks from near and far (Ottawa & Buffalo) as well as the new chefs and popups rolling out delicious street food style food….. Margarita Donuts by Rachelle of Beast anyone?  Jalapeno Cornbread Grilled Cheese? Cake in a mason jar? Pork belly tacos? Banana fritters & pig ears from El Gastronomo?

Hosted in one of the most spectacular venues in Toronto, what made this event unique was the integration of local wine & beer as well as live musicians. It really was a food party.

With over 12 local wineries, including Rosewood, serving great local wine and sparkling, the wine and beer matched perfectly with the food. Rosewood decided to pour our 2009 Sussreserve Riesling and our unreleased 2010 Pinot Noir. The off dry Riesling was a perfect match for many of the spicy street food offered and the Pinot was a great match with the flavourful food like the Thanksgiv’er Turkey Taco from Caplansky’s Thundering Thelma.
