This morning ten prominent Torontonians – including author Naomi Klein, Councillor Joe Mihevc, musician Damian Abraham, public policy advocate Michael MacMillan, and Toronto Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David McKeown – gathered at the Stop Community Food Centre on Davenport Road to launch the second phase of the “Do The Math” Campaign. Each of these Torontonians will live exclusively from the contents of a food bank hamper, each containing a three to four day supply of food.

Good Food Revolution was there to record the proceedings and speak with both Naomi Klein and Damian Abraham about their involvement in the campaign.

This phase of the campaign will run for one week, with a public Town Hall meeting at the Wychwood Barns on April 13, at 7pm. The Town Hall meeting will include a discussion with the Do The Math participants about both their experiences and how to continue to put pressure on the provincial government to address the gross inadequacies of social assistance rates.
