2007 Domaine Vico “Rouge” Corsica France LCBO #149971 $17.95
I was first introduced to this lovely wine by Union restaurant’s Sommelier Christopher Sealy, and it has become one of my favourites as of late. Produced by a blend of the (un)usual suspects (the Sciacarello and Nieluccio varietals native to Corsica) this wine has a very seductive perfumed nose of dried sturdy herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage) and black cherries alongside some subtle baking spice nuances. In the mouth the wine pleasurably stimulates the palate with medium tannins and great acidity. Medium-bodied and refreshingly reserved and savoury, this wine is crying out for some grilled lamb chops straight from the barbecue.
