Guy Van Lancker of Domaine Combe Blanche – a man who does things a little differently in Minervois.

Pinot Noir in the Minervois? When I first heard that I’ll admit that I raised my eyebrows and rolled my eyes… but then I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon in the cool cave of Minervois Vigneron Guy Van Lancker at Domaine Combe Blanche.

This gentleman swims against the region’s traditional Grenache/Syrah current, growing and bottling not only Pinot Noir, but Tempranillo, and Cinsault too. These wines are no mere novelty or vanity project, as Guy takes meticulous care in both his vineyards and cellar to produce wines of exquisite and authentic Languedoc character, albeit it not with the grapes you would usually expect to find there.
