Woodman Wines & Spirits presents an iconic red wine from Veneto…

Allegrini La Grola 2016
$29.95 | LCBO# 476598

The Draw:
An incredible value that punches well, well above its weight. La Grola is largely Corvina with a small percentage of the local varietal, Oseleta. Hugely intense nose of wildberries, herbs, tobacco and smoke. The palate is powerful with a natural elegance, dominated by plums, cherries and black currants. The Winery:
With more than six generations of winegrowing tradition since the 16th century, Allegrini is the most-awarded winery in the Veneto and the benchmark for Amarone. Led by the charismatic Marilisa Allegrini with wines made by her talented brother Franco Allegrini, the estate is the brightest light in the hills of Fumane in Valpolicella. All wines in their portfolio exude passion and are of the highest quality.

Pairings and Tips:
Hearty and substantial, best with roasted red meats like lamb or game. Consider savoury accompaniments like stewed/grilled mushrooms, or simple mild, aged cheeses. Serve at cellar temperature, decant for about an hour, and use large, Bordeaux-style stemware…
