All The Best Fine Foods hosted a fundraising dinner for Good Food Media, the not-for-profit organisation that publishes Good Food Revolution on June 19 in honour of the great English food writer Elizabeth David: six courses were served, each one an adaptation from one of her cookbooks. Here is a recap of the evening’s events…

The night began with pissadelière (Provençal onion and olive tart) accompanied by a Tavel rosé and there was mingling amongst guests who chatted about cookery writing and Elizabeth David’s legacy. Malcolm Jolley, the founding Editor of Good Food Revolution, introduced the evening and spoke about David’s influence on his career aspirations and passion for food. Next, Jamie Drummond, the Director of Programs and Editor of GFR, spoke about the wine pairings for the evening. All The Best co-owner and cookbook author Jane Rodmell, an avowed Elizabeth David enthusiast, spoke about the food selection for the dinner, which was paired with VQA white wines generously donated by Rosewood Estates and Stratus.

Throughout the evening there was lively discussion about David’s contribution to food writing and even an anecdote by a guest, the food journalist and cookbook author Judith Finlayson, who had the privilege of interviewing and lunching with her.
