Cynthia Peters leads a From The Farm Cooking class in Toronto
Cynthia Peters leads a class
Cynthia Peters brought Prince Edward County to downtown Toronto earlier this month when she and her neighbour, winemaker Caroline Granger from The Grange of Prince Edward, came up to the city for a From The Farm cooking class ‘Under The Sultan’s Tent’, featuring Morrocan cuisine. The sold-out event was held at the AGA Le Cornue Shop on King Street, so Cynthia and her students could cook on the luxurious equipment, including a La Cornue range with a sticker price of just under S50,000, and an old fashioned AGA range that never shuts off. (Also on hand a home rotisserie unit that I am told Gwyneth Paltrow is very satisfied with, but was afraid to ask the cost.)

Much fun and merriment were had, aided by Granger’s lovely wines, including a spectacular 2010 Gamay (the menu and wines are reproduced below). I brought my camera and caught a few pictures of what went down.

Daniel Frohlich, who manages the sales of AGA and La Cornue in Eastern Canada, shows the class what it’s like to cook on a luxurious range.

Caroline Granger warms the class up by talking about how she makes wine.

Students are taking the class very, very seriously.
