Woodman Wines & Spirits presents a crowd pleasing wine from Sicily at the LCBO…
Cabernet Sauvignon makes the world go ’round. Although famed and acclaimed in France and California, it’s no secret that nearly every major winegrowing zone has tried their hand at it. In the idyllic, sunswept vineyards of southern Sicily, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more pleasant expression. Deliciously fruit-forward, leaning into ripe, balanced blackcurrant and black cherry. Rounded, integrated tannins frame everything with echoes of lightly roasted coffee, while savoury herbal notes underpin the wine on the whole. An everyday crowd-pleaser!
Feudo Arancio’s facility is a stunning homage to the traditional Sicilian baglio. Within, state-of-the-art winemaking equipment and a totally thermo-conditioned environment ensures a quality product from start to finish. The winery farms 700 hectares of its own vineyards across the windy southern coast in the estates of Sambuca di Sicilia and Acate.
Pairings and Tips:
Spring is around the corner, so perhaps it’s time to take off the barbecue cover and fire up the grill! This is an easy-drinking, well-made wine that doesn’t need too much fuss. Burgers or sausage (either meat or vegetarian-base) with grilled veggies sound like the perfect match to us. If the sun isn’t warm enough yet, get a little heat working in the kitchen with some lively pasta all’Amatriciana. Drink now or hold 1-3 years.
