That’s Life! and FRILU Restaurant team up to bring you an exclusive evening of sake tasting and innovative food.

Join us for a six course dinner designed by Chef Troiano paired with sake from Kita Shuzo. Mayuko Kita will be present to discuss the Kirakucho brand. Mayuko-san is the ninth generation of the Kita family to be involved in the production if Kirakucho sake, and she is unique as a woman producing sake in a male dominated industry.

Mayuko-san decided early in her career that she wanted not only to become the next Kuramoto [brewery owner] of Kita Shuzo, she also wanted to learn craft of brewing sake. She is currently studying with the brew master of Kita Shuzo. Her insight into and knowledge of Kita Shuzo sake production will provide an opportunity to appreciate Kirakucho sake on a deeper level. Mayuko-san will also be bringing with her some fresh, seasonal sake to be sharing with us.

Chef John-Vincent Troiano has trained under chef Hashimoto of Kaiseki Yu-zen Hashimoto, he also interned at Noma in Copenhagen and Star Benu in San Francisco. FRILU is his first restaurant, and he has delighted guests with his Japanese and Nordic influenced cuisine. FRILU was recently featured in Toronto Life’s Best New Restaurants 2019, and Amy Pataki of the Toronto Star called FRILU 2018’s Most Memorable Meal outside of the downtown core. Troiano‘s menu will be the perfect match for the rich, flavourful sakes of Kirakucho.
