Winemaker Charles Simpson explains how his wineries in Kent, England and Languedoc, France are coping through this ever-developing pandemic.

This week sees us conduct a Zoom video interview with Winemaker Charles Simpson. Along with his wife, Ruth, Charles runs both Simpsons Wine Estate in the North Downs of Kent, England, and Domaine Sainte Rose in France’s Languedoc.

With this in mind, we asked him about comparisons between the UK and French governments respective strategies concerning the ongoing battle against the spread of COVID-19, and how his teams are working within these regulations and continue to produce wines.

The 2016 Simpsons Chalklands Classic Cuvée is currently available at lcbo.com

There are also two more of their wines in transit to Ontario, namely the Roman Road Chardonnay and the Derringstone Pinot Meunier.

We shall be reviewing all of these in due course, along with a two-parter extended interview about the history of Rith and Charles’ estates. Watch this space!
