Le Sommelier presents a very special bottle in the LCBO CLASSICS release…

Elena Fucci grew up immersed in viticulture and viniculture, and in the vineyard of this special wine. After completing her oenology studies, Titolo was born. The name comes from the local volcanic territory, a fragrant and striking mix of vineyard and olive groves that are generations old. This wine is her tribute to her homeland, and the homeland of her ancestors. In the words of Elena Fucci, “Go Go Titolo!”

“Titolo has been the best Aglianico del Vulture for many years now, and is really one of Italy’s better red wines.” – Ian D’Agata, Vinous Media

This wine will be available at 8:30am on Thursday, May 6 on the CLASSICS page of the LCBO website.

Elena Fucci Titolo Aglianico del Vulture 2017

Titolo is a deep, rich, full bodied wine, from 60-70 year old Aglianico vines on Mount Vulture in Italy’s Basilicata region. The vineyard rests at 600m, on volcanic lava and ash soils known locally as pozzolana. Destemmed and crushed in small batches, this was fermented in stainless before moving to new French oak and a year of aging. After bottling, the wine rests for an additional six months prior to release.

“Good dark red. Perfumed aromas of red berry liqueur and ripe red cherry are lifted by pungent medicinal herbs and complemented by sexy vanilla and spice tones. Full-bodied yet delicate, with a fine-grained personality and compelling sweetness on the suave finish. This is aged 12 months in 50% new and 50% used French oak barriques. Drinking window: 2022-2028.” – 93 points. Ian D’Agata, vinous.com, Feb. 2020
