*This Private Order offer will close on November 29th*

Mullineux & Lieu Family Wines

Chris and Andrea Mullineux decided to settle in the South African Swartland back in 2007, after working at several estates around the globe. By focusing on producing handcrafted wines from the granite and shale based soils of the Swartland, they have quickly became an important, celebrated reference both locally and internationally.

Available for Private Order:

Mullineux Kloof Street Chenin Blanc 2019 $22.95
Grapes sourced from vineyard plots on a variety of soils in different parts of the Swartland. The wine is part tank and part barrel fermented.

Mullineux Kloof Street Swartland Rouge 2018 $22.95
Mediterranean style red blend based on Syrah with Carignan and Grenache coming from a range of plots of the Swartland with different soils. 4 Stars Platter

Mullineux Syrah – Swartland Old Vines** 2017 $49.95
Northern Rhone Style Wild Ferments that expresses the shale & schist and granite terroir where the vines grow. 1/2 is whole-bunch fermented; and the wine is aged for 11 months in French oak, 15% new. Unfiltered’n’unfined.

Mullineux Olerasay Straw Wine 2018** $59.95
Straw wine is made from grapes that have been dried after harvested to concentrate their juice. In this case, this wine is also made using the solera method. Since 2008, Olerasay’s barrels have been fractionally blended, creating layers of complexity, nuttiness and depth. 97/100 Wine Advocate

Mullineux Single Terroir Granite Chenin Blanc 2017 ** $94.95
40 year old vines of Chenin sustainably and dry-farmed in the decomposed granite soils of the Paardeberg. This terroir delivers wines with amazing acidity and a flinty, stony aromatic profile. 4.5 Stars Platter (93), 96 Tim Atkin, 92 Neil Martin, 93 Wine Spectator

Mullineux Single Terroir Schist Chenin Blanc 2016 ** $139.95
Kasteelberg’s shale and schist based soils plots are the ones that give the best expression of this terroir: density, structure and a decent balance of acidity get to the glass through the 35 and 39 year old Chenin vines.

Mullineux Single Terroir Schist Syrah 2016 ** $139.95
As said before, density and structure are the best expression of Kasteelberg’s terroir. The Syrah grapes for this wine come from the stony shale and schist soils of Roundstone Farm. 5 Stars Platter (95), 97 Tim Atkin, 93 Neil Martin, 94 Decanter, 93 Wine Spectator

Leeu Passant Chardonnay 2017 ** $94.95
Sourced from a parcel located in Helderberg Mountain, planted in deep loam-rich soils. This Chardonnay has been whole-bunch pressed, slow barrel fermented and aged for 12 months on the lees. After racking, the wine is blended and aged a further 6 months in barrel before bottling.

Leeu Passant Dry Red 2017 ** $139.95
56 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Cinsault, 18% Cabernet Franc. Both parcels from which the Cinsault in this blend comes from are South Africa’s two oldest registered Red Wine vineyards, 117 year old and 95 year old dry farmed bush vines plots. Half of the final blend is whole-bunch fermented and temperatures are always controlled to retain the aromas. The wine is bottled after 20 months in barrel.

Coming Soon:

Mullineux Syrah Swartland 2016 $46.95 – December 5th, Classics Collection
This perfumed Syrah has notes of spicy citrus rind, refined black fruit, violets and lilies. The palate is elegant and restrained with a silky texture balanced by a fresh, natural acidity. Aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, this wine gives true and complete expression of the shale & schist and granite soils.

Radford Dale & The Winery of Good Hope

Radford Dale was founded in 1998 when Ben Radford and Alex Dale first made wines together. They believe in combining innovation with a healthy respect for tradition. In other words, their approach is old plus new, and the best of both worlds. They specialize in the mountainous viticultural sub-regions of the Helderberg area in Stellenbosch, Elgin, and the Perderberg area in the Swartland.

Available for Private Order:

The Winery of Good Hope Unoaked Chardonnay Western Cape 2019 $15.00
Classy yet easy-drinking Chard’ from Robertson Valley and Ocean-facing Helderberg vineyards. 100% stainless steel fermented, kept in tank for five months on its lees with occasional battonnage. A lovely refreshing Chard with acidity on point.

Radford Dale Chardonnay WO Stellenbosch 2017 $31.95
Marine climate influenced Chardonnay planted on crunchy granite-derived soils. Whole-cluster pressed, slowly barrel fermented for 9 months. Bracing freshness, flinty minerality, very well-integrated oak.

Radford Dale The Renaissance of Chenin Blanc WO Stellenbosch 2017 $38.95
Bright, mineral and idiosyncratic. That’s Chenin, South Africa’s most noble grape. The low yielding, unirrigated bush vines planted on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain deliver a wine that is all about subtlety and finesse. Fermented in barrels from natural yeasts, malo inhibited by the cold.

Radford Dale Frankenstein Pinotage WO Stellenbosch 2016 $38.95
The winery’s homage and wink to a grape created in a laboratory from Pinot & Cinsault by South Africa’s first professor of viticulture: Pinotage. 30 year old vines deeply rooted in white clay soils at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain. Partial carbonic fermentation in foudre, aged in large format barrels to retain the exuberant pure fruit & enhance the texture.

Radford Dale Black Rock WO Stellenbosch 2016 $38.95
Syrah, Carignan & Cinsault blend from an old vineyard in Swartland that RD has been cultivating since 2003. Grapes were destemmed and co-fermented in wooden vats, creating a much more harmonious blend.

Radford Dale The Antidote Gamay WO Stellenbosch 2016 $38.95
The remedy for bad days: a delicious and juicy Gamay from an unusual yet exceptional terroir (less than 10 ha of this variety are planted in South Africa!) Wildly fermented whole bunches and whole berries in a 7000L oak vat. The result: a fruit-forward, fresh and sprightly red with subtle texture and tannins as soft as clouds.

Radford Dale Nudity (No Sulphur Added) Syrah WO Stellenbosch 2016 $38.95
Nudity Syrah is RD’s zero sulphites wine. The culmination of years learning about natural viticulture and non-interventionist winemaking. Nothing hidden, nothing added: just the beautiful and unembellished reality that is born in the vineyard and evolves in the bottle.
