Noble Estates offers two new wines from Northern Italy delivered to your door.

NOBLE TO YOUR DOOR – NORTHERN ITALY

This week we are presenting two wines from Northern Italy. One, a well known Italian icon wine, and the other a popular varietal in France and North America that is starting to turn heads for its unique characteristics when grown in Italy.

2013 Fratelli Revello Barolo

The 2013 vintage is already being touted as a stellar year. September was very sunny and dry, but the growing cycle was still two weeks late, necessitating a delayed harvest. The prognosis for this vintage is similar in quality to the already legendary 2010s. Enzo and Carlo Revello took over their father’s estate in 1990: their vineyards, once belonging to the local parish, boast parcels in the crus of Giachini, Rocche dell’Annunziata, Conca dell’Annunziata and Gattera.

The wine matures in French oak barriques (20% new, 80% old) for 24 months, it is bottled in the month of July of the third year after the year of the harvest, and released one year later. Grab this gem now before it’s too late! Comes in a case of 6.

2014 Bottega Vinai Pinot Nero – Silver medal UK Wine awards

Pinot Nero is mostly grown in the most northern regions of Italy, with the Bottega Vinai being grown in Trento. Trento is a small region that is close to the borders of Austria, Switzerland and Liechenstein, so you can’t get much farther north in Italy! It has bright ruby red colour which develops brick red tinges with ageing. Very pronounced red fruit and cherry nose with hints of almond and notes of vanilla. This wine has excellent balance and elegance. Comes in a case of 12.
