Profile Wine Group presents five new wines to try at the LCBO Vintages…

Coriole Vineyards Dancing Fig Mourvedre Grenache Shiraz 2018
LCBO# 18337 | $21.95

The nose is deliciously aromatic with raspberry, lifted florals, white pepper and exotic spice, with a hint of strawberries and cream, toasted nuts and honey. The medium to light palate is full of plump fruit, Satsuma plum and cranberry. It has fine lingering tannins, mouth watering acidity and a wonderful, long finish. An approachable wine that you’ll struggle to put down. 60% Mourvedre, 25% Grenache, 15% Shiraz

Food pairing: The Dancing Fig is a wine to have in hand while preparing dinner. It is also suitable with light pasta dishes such as a simple spaghetti Carbonara.

“Apart from the estate vineyards from the south to the north of McLaren Vale, Coriole also has a number of different species of fig trees that are carefully tended, the figs sold. The autosuggestion is too strong to ignore, and the bouquet of this mourvedre/grenache/shiraz blend has a ripe fig overtone. The palate keeps its focus where it should, with a suite of sultry earthy notes ex the mourvedre, lightened and brightened by the other varieties.” 94 Pts & Silver – James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, August 1, 2020

Firriato Santagostino Rosso Baglio Soria Sicilia 2014
LCBO# 291369 | $19.95

Deep intense ruby red colour with lively shades of purple. It affords concentrated, well-defined nuances of marasca cherries, wild berries, rhubarb, cloves, aromatic herbs and prunes that alternate and blend with charming hints of liquorice, ink and tobacco leaves. Suave, soft and caressing, it reveals its great and intensely Mediterranean character admirably blending a powerful and hearty texture, an extraordinary vivacity, silky and fine tannins. 100% Nero d’Avola and Syrah.

“Dried-orange and pomelo-peel aromas, alongside the terroir-indicative smokiness. Crushed wild berries, leather and more dried citrus peel on the palate. It’s medium-bodied with sleek tannins. Nice development. Drink now.” 92 Pts – James Suckling, November 24, 2020

Fresh aromas and flavors of blackberry, plum, spearmint, chocolate silk pie, new leather, olives, and licorice with a satiny, vibrant, fruity medium-to-full body and an even, interesting, medium-length finish.
