Profile Wine Group presents eight new wines available this weekend at the LCBO…

Wakefield Estate Merlot 2018
$19.95 | LCBO# 683201

At release, the wine is a dark red with an intense purple hue. Distinct aromas of black cherries and ripe strawberries abound with secondary spice, sweet mocha and cigar box characters evident. Medium to full-bodied with lush red berry, plum and cherry fruit characters. The fruit flavours are balanced by undertones of creamy mocha, spice & subtle savoury characters. The palate has a soft, velvety texture with grainy tannins through the mid-palate and a long, persistence to finish.

95 Pts & Gold – New World Wine Awards 2019

J. Lohr Cuvee Series PAU Red 2015
$78.95 | LCBO# 313585 | Flagship ISD

“The 2015 J. Lohr Cuvée PAU shows savory cassis, black fruits and earthy forest notes on the nose with a classic oily palate of plum, anise and graphite. Open and decant an hour before serving for full expression.” – Steve Peck, Director of Winemaking 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot, 13% Merlot, 2% Malbec

Food Pairing: Delicious with grilled rosemary lamb chops, garlic mashed potatoes and roasted beets.

“The Right Bank “hommage” from the Cuvee Series delivers the intent of the program – a nod to Bordeaux with a Paso Robles heart. Rich Cabernet Sauvignon character gets a boost of savory joy from its three cousins, with pencil shavings, and a touch of pepper joining blackberry, cassis and fennel. Decant long, or age a few years before going in.” – 94 Pts, Rich Cook, winereviewonline.com, June 4, 2019

Vigneti del Salento I Muri Primitivo 2018
$13.95 | LCBO# 569970

Intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. Intense fruity and spicy aromas. Full-bodied, soft, quite tannic and harmonious. Ready to drink.

Food Pairing: excellent with rich first courses and red meat, also goes well with game and medium-seasoned cheeses.

94 Pts, Luca Maroni, August 1, 2019

Susana Balbo Signature Malbec 2018
$20.95 | LCBO# 79798

Beautiful deep violet colour with exploding aromas of blackberry, black cherry and blueberries framed by hints of spices and mint. The wonderful aromas are mirrored on the palate and they are joined by ripe plum fruit and notes of toasty vanilla, bittersweet chocolate and a hint of mint on the finish. This is a ripe and rich style of wine with long velvety finish.

“A red with blackberry and blueberry aromas. Hints of tar. Medium body. Very fine tannins. Shows a pretty, chocolate and hazelnut aftertaste. Drink or hold.” – 93 Pts, James Suckling, April 2, 2020

Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico
Gran Selezione Riserva di Fizzano 2015
$34.95 | LCBO# 699454

Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose is intense with hints of wild berries and a well-balanced spicyness. The taste is warm and properly sapid, with ripe red fruit aromas and a long finish.
