Rocca della Macie's Sergio Zingarelli on a very cold Toronto afternoon.

Rocca della Macie’s Sergio Zingarelli on a very chilly Toronto afternoon in February.

I have always had a secret soft spot for the oft maligned sub-genre of the Spaghetti Western, most probably because as I child I spent a great deal of time at my grandparent’s home, where my Grandad had a real penchant for such entertainment.

And so it was with great nostalgic pleasure I sat down for an interview with Tuscan Winemaker Sergio Zingarelli, not only because he is the man responsible for some really great Tuscan wines, but also because his late father, Italo, is seen by many as one of the true grandfathers of the genre, founding the Rocca delle Macie winery on the fortunes he made from his 1970’s cinematic endeavours.
