2007 Tenuta Moraia “Pietracupa” Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy $18.95 LCBO Vintages #211548

Ahhhhh… Bolgheri, situated in Livorno, Tuscany, and home to some of the most pricey and sought-after of “Super Tuscan” wines (Ornellaia and Sassicaia amongst others). Real estate in this particular part of the world doesn’t come cheaply, with prices that would make Mark Zuckerburg think twice.

With this in mind we were delighted to discover this bargain-priced Bordeaux Blend from Tenuta Moraia. Tasting with a well-known Toronto Sommelier last week, we were in solid agreement that this bottling over-delivered in every which way. There’s a solid core of fruit here, possessing a structured elegance that certainly gives a nod to France, this wine would be a welcome addition to any dinner party.

Edinburgh-born/Toronto-based Sommelier, consultant, writer, judge and educator Jamie Drummond is the Director of Programs/Editor of Good Food Revolution… and he purchased as much of this lovely wine as he could get his mitts on.
