2018 Chozas Carrascal ‘Los Dos Ces’ Tinto, Spain

From 1 of only 19 Spanish wineries awarded Vino de Pago status, this is an organic, juicy red made from old-vine Bobal, a variety native to this part of Valencia.  The nose shows soft and toasted balsamic notes enveloped by ripe, bright red fruits. The palate adds notes of blackberry, pomegranate, liquorice and cocoa.  The texture is fresh, soft and intense all at once.

2017 Barnard Griffin Syrah, USA

The Syrah from Desert Aire Vineyard, which is the backbone of this wine, has some of the most expressive fruit flavour in Washington.  Deep purple in the glass with subtle aromatics of game, dark berries, lavender and white pepper.  On the palate, a beautiful back and forth between supple tannins and bright acidity with notes of lavender, dark cherries, cocoa and spice.

2018 Salcheto Rosso, Italy

From one of the wine world’s leaders in sustainability comes this organic/biodynamic Sangiovese that was hand-harvested from the 5 hectare Salcheto vineyard and fermented and aged in stainless steel.  A classic, youthful Tuscan red with tons of freshness and energy.  Bright and upfront red fruit aromas abound; cherry and berries intermingle with a salty meaty note and are framed by subtle hints of anise, leather and soft ripe tannins.

2018 Tenuta Olim Bauda Barbera d’Asti ‘La Villa’, Italy

This is big, concentrated and modern, with loads of ripe, dark fruits alongside clove, anise and floral notes. It has more tannic grip than most Barbera d’Asti; Olim Bauda always does a terrific job of balancing the grape’s high natural acidity with impressive depth and weight. A delicious example of what this grape is capable of when in the right hands.

2016 Longview Vineyards ‘Devil’s Elbow’ Cabernet Sauvignon, Australia

Sourced from a single vineyard in the cool region of Adelaide Hills, this is a stylish, full-bodied Cabernet with loads of character and elegance.  A really expressive nose showing black currant, dark cherry, clove and mint aromas.  Rich fruit, toasty oak wrapped in ripe tannins and perfectly balanced acidity.   A wonderful example of modern Australian Cabernet.

2018 Alandes Malbec, Argentina

Bodega Alandes is the small, side-project of renowned Argentine winemaker, Karim Mussi.  A multi-regional line of premium, experimental, terroir-driven wines from the finest vineyard sites in Argentina.  This is hand-crafted from elevation and vinified to showcase the best of the Uco Valley.  It’s full-bodied and wise beyond its years.  Full of rich berries, cocoa, leather and gravel, the ample fruit is beautifully integrated, dancing between bright acidity and soft, supple tannins.
