Today we check in with the most excellent Heather McDougall, Technical Director of CAPS (Canadian Association Of Professional Sommeliers) as well as running the successful SIPS Toronto wine events company.

After spending a good half hour catching up about all manner of things (it had been a while!), we spoke about the upcoming regional final of Canada’s Best Sommelier competition on Monday November the 14th at Toronto’s Liberty Grand.

 

 

What:  The 2022 Best Ontario Sommelier Competition

Ontario’s top five sommelier semi-finalists compete for the ultimate title of Best Ontario Sommelier to then compete for Canadian title and move on to international competition.

When:  November 14, 2022, 12 noon – 9 PM

Arrival 12:00 noon

Walk-around winetasting opens at 12:30 – 2:00 PM

Live Competition 2:15 PM – 6:45 PM (five competitors, 30 minutes each)

Gala Dinner and walk-around tasting 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Winning Announcement & prizing 9:00 PM

Where: The Governor’s Room, The Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex, Exhibition Place, 25 British Columbia Rd, Toronto, ON M6K 3C3

What: The gala fundraiser #BOSC2022 will feature an international and local wine tasting, a silent auction, the live competition for the title of Best Ontario Sommelier, and gala awards dinner with the winner’s announcement and prizing. The celebrated judges include Jennifer Huether, MS, José Luis Fernández, winner of BOSC 2019, and Pier-Alexis Soulière, MS, Best Sommelier Canada, 2021. Title sponsors include Liberty Entertainment Group, California Wines and Napa Valley Vintners, among others.
