Noble Estates presents the wines of two New Zealand wine making legends at Dog Point.

Ivan Sutherland and James Healy of Dog Point Vineyard are two of New Zealand’s most influential winegrowers. Together they established Cloudy Bay as a New World icon, and during the 1990’s it became one of the world’s most fashionable wines. When Cloudy Bay was eventually purchased, they departed to create Dog Point.

Dog Point vineyards are certified organic under the BioGro New Zealand Programme which is an independent certification process established to promote environmentally friendly, sustainable and responsible practices. The wines combine New World vitality and Old World minerality. Winegrowing is impeccable; the grapes are hand-picked, and winemaking is non-interventionist. These wines represent the very best of Marlborough. They are beautifully balanced, complex, and truly astonishing.

2014 Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc – $43.99 – 95 points James Suckling

A fuller bodied, textural style of Sauvignon Blanc. Has a nutty edge with mineral and stony notes. Fruit is hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented and aged in older French oak barrels for 18 months and bottled without fining. The palate has a weight and texture more associated with a Chablis. A wine for drinking now or can age for several years.

A bright perfumed, supple expression of Marlborough Pinot Noir from clay hill slopes. Comprising six different pinot noir clones from v25 year old vines. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (40% new) for 18 months. The palate is bold, with intense red and dark fruit. A layer of dried herbs and floral notes, the wine has a rich and full palate structure, with even, fine grained tannins. Great match with Duck, Turkey or Mushroom dishes.
