We’re thrilled to welcome Domaine Montrose + Olivier Coste to Toronto with a very special wine dinner at Le Select Bistro on Tuesday, May 30. Export manager Geoffrey Cohen, and Le Sommelier president Bernard Stramwasser will lead us through the wines of these family Languedoc estates, paired to a spectacular family style French dinner.

Domaine Montrose is located in Southern France’s Languedoc region, just a few kilometres from Pézenas and the Mediterranean. Olivier Coste, together with his father Bernard, oversee the property’s 80 hectares of vines, devotedly committed to respecting the environment so that future generations can enjoy nature’s heritage.

The family’s wine estate was founded in 1701 in the Côtes de Thongue, a small region made up of about fifty producers. The producers of this wine appellation have the particularity of having declined to be granted official AOC certification in order to ensure their own freedom, to be able to create their own personal wines. Côtes de Thongue remains proudly IGP (Indication Géographique Protegée).

The name Montrose appears on the first French cadastral maps, the Cassini maps, drawn up after 1756. The name can actually be traced as far back as 1696, but its origin is much older, proof of which can be found in underground cellars dating back to the 16th century. The Olivier Coste wines are not estate fruit, allowing adventuresome Olivier the chance to explore other grapes and regions outside of their family estate.
The wines showcased at the dinner will also be available for purchase by the bottle:

Mon Rose Rosé IGP Pays d’Oc 2021
Carignan Blanc RARE Vin de France 2022
Chardonnay IGP Côtes de Tongue 2022
Olivier Coste Carignan Noir Old Star IGP Pays d’Oc 2021
