On the surface there’s not a lot in common between these two wines, but thanks to the LCBO, they share one important trait – they’re only available on the Vintages website! The 2019 Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was a part of the May Cellar Collection and the 2022 Janare Senete Falanghina was included in a recent offer of Italian wines that were awarded Tre Bicchieri from the 2024 Gambero Rosso Guide! Quantities are limited and the offers will be closing soon – don’t miss your chance to score some of these bottles for yourself!

La Guardiense Janare Senete Falanghina del Sannio 2022, Campania
Tre Bicchieri, Gambero Rosso 2024
Monica Larner for Wine Advocate, November 2023
Showing waxy stone fruit aromas, the hot-vintage La Guardiense 2022 Falanghina del Sannio Janare Senete is a lean-bodied white with some lingering creaminess. The wine glides smoothly over the senses, offering an easy interpretation of Falanghina from an inland growing site in Campania that’s surrounded by majestic mountains and perched villages. The bouquet is rather neutral, and this wine plays its strongest cards in terms of mouthfeel. Winemaking is in stainless steel only and fruit comes from a site with chalky clay soils.

Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Oakville
97pts, John Szabo MS for WineAlign, October 2023
Groth’s 2019 Reserve Cabernet is a really terrific wine, crafted in a vein of subtlety and finesse rather than raw power and impact. High quality oak influence is present but so well enmeshed into the ensemble, with so much fruit extract and density to absorb. There’s marvelous substance and genuine concentration on the palate, not to mention superb length. I find this absolutely beguiling, a stunning wine, one of the finest Groth Reserves to date, issued from a magnificent vintage. Best 2026-2040.
