This wine is a brilliant yellow, with flashes of green. A nose full of mature fruit and flower. On the palate it is ample and beautifully structured, rich and elegant fruity wine with a fresh, mineral finish.

Food Pairing: Makes an excellent aperitif with toast and fois gras. Also goes well with fish and shellfish and poultry or with goat cheese.

“Lovely aromas of stone fruit and citrus. Fresh and zesty on the palate with well-integrated oak and flavours of ripe apricot, peach and spice. A vibrant wine with a very satisfactory rich finish” – 95 Pts & Gold – Decanter Wine World Awards 2019

“A milestone wine for J. Lohr that harnesses our history with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah from Paso Robles.” – Steve Peck, Director of Winemaking

Food Pairing: Pairs well with tomato rice dishes like paella or creamy risotto. Exquisite with prime rib or a dense monkfish.

“When J. Lohr is firing on all cylinders it usually mean there is an exceptional value in the offing. So true with this 2017 Pure Paso blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Merlot. Rich and dense, with impressive length on the palate, Pure Paso delivers a complex array of red and black fruits, a healthy does of wood spice and smooth, supple tannins. Pure deliciousness! Wakefield Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
$19.95 | LCBO# 744235

At release, the wine is a deep red with a vibrant purple hue. The wine has an aroma of rich blackcurrant, subtle spice, tomato leaf and a touch of eucalypt. French oak maturation is also evident with subtle aromas of cedar and dark chocolate. This is a wine of great intensity. It has distinctive blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavours. Subtle oak characters of cedar cigar box and spice are also evident. The tannins are fine and elegant – a hallmark of the varietal. The palate is well balanced, complex and fulfilling and lingers on the finish.

“Fantastic value under $20 for this Wakefield 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Clare Valley, South Australia. This is a juicy, full-bodied garnet red wine with a spicy nose and rich black fruits, meat, leather, cedar spice and vanilla flavours on the palate. This is your strip loin on the barbie red.” 92 Pts & Best Value – Natalie MacLean, July 10, 2020

Montes Limited Selection Pinot Noir 2018
$14.95 | LCBO# 37937

Ruby red and very bright hue. The nose is expressive and intense with entertaining notes of sour cherries and fresh strawberries, on a background of flowers and wild herbs. Soft aromas and dulce de leche integrate very well with the aromas of the variety. In the mouth it is balanced with a rich natural acidity that makes it juicy and fresh. Its round tannins give it structure and a very pleasant sensation of sweetness. Medium volume and good persistence in the mouth, it provides a fruity finish and very consistent with what is perceived in the nose.

“This has a very fresh, red-cherry nose with a streak of spicy oak that suits the vibrant and fragrant pinot berries. The palate has a very pure core of bright, energetic cherries. Smooth-honed tannins to close. Drink now. Screw cap.” 90 Pts – James Suckling, April 17, 2020
