“This is delicious! Finds a good gear and runs with it through to a lengthy finish. Seductive cherry, graphite, sweet spice and red forest fruit aromas flow onto a beautifully harmonious and complex palate, conveying a tender texture of dark cherry and plummy fruit that’s carried by perfectly pitched tannins. The flavours linger long in the mouth. It will make many red wine devotees swoon.” 97 Pts & Platinum – Decanter World Wine Awards 2019

Montes Alpha 30th Anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
$34.95 | LCBO# 16495

Deep and intense ruby-red colour. On the nose there are aromas of ripe black fruit, sweet tobacco and spice, all perfectly integrated. The palate is enveloping and rounded, with a sensation of freshness, refined tannins and a long finish.

“This is a one-off wine to celebrate Montes’ 30th anniversary. Intense aromas of blackberries, blueberries, herbs and rose petals follow through to a full body. Tight and dense with framed fruit and some wood at the end. This is jazzy and intense. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Better after 2022.” 94 Pts – James Suckling, April 17, 2020

Les Vins Bonhomme El Petit Bonhomme 2018
$16.95 | LCBO# 16578

Deep and dark ruby colour with sweet & rich plummy generous red fruits with hint of toasted oak. Clean and freshly balance on the palate, full bodied and soft rounded tannins. Long, intense spicy and licorice smooth finish. 55% thirty-year-old Monastrell, 30% Garnacha and 15% Syrah

“Some very spicy and creamy berry-pastry aromas of ripe fruit and sweetly fragrant oak. The palate has a fresh array of rich summer berries with a plush, lithe and juicy feel. Drink or hold. 91 Pts – James Suckling, July 26, 2019

Pierre Sparr Pinot Gris Grande Reserve 2018
$18.95 | LCBO# 983395

Yellow gold colour. Reveals aromas of fruits, apricots, peach and a complex nose. With some air, notes of juicy apricots follow accompanied by mineral notes. This is also evident In the mouth, as well softly and minerally with a delicate sweetness-acid-relation, a fancy minerality and a firm racy body. This drinking pleasure is crowned by a little bit smoky – spicy aftertaste – a wine for lovers of a clear smooth Pinot Gris with charm.

Food pairing: Fish in sauce. Terrines, cold or warm patés. Poultry, turkey and white meat. Exotic and spicy dishes. Asian style white meat, sweet-and-sour. Pinot Gris is also a delicious aperitif wine.

“The closed nose on this wine reveals only the slightest hint of pear peel. Next the palate comes in with textured, pleasant pithiness and slight bitterness that works well within the full-fruited pear generosity. The finish is dry and fresh.” 89 Pts – Anne Krebiehl MW, Wine Enthusiast, October 1, 2020

Signorello Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2017
$124.95 | LCBO# 60152

The 2017 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a dense yet expressive wine. Deep ruby red in colour, the wine boasts notes of cherries, cassis and chamomile. Flavours of lavender, herbal tea, vanilla and rose petals build up the structure through the midpalate. The long, lingering finish of espresso, mocha and sage culminates in a striking richness. The wine is drinking wonderfully right now and will continue to develop further nuances with cellar age.
