After eight or so drams I sat down for a blether with Malcolm Waring of Old Pulteney.

Never let it be said that I’ll ever turn down the opportunity of tasting/nosing eight excellent Scottish whiskies before noon; add to the that the fact that all eight of them come from the esteemed Inver House Distillers, and you’ll be making me a very happy gentleman indeed.

Malcolm Waring is Distillery Manager (read: Master Distiller) at Inver House Distillers’ Old Pulteney property, located near Wick, Caithness, in the far reaches of northern Scotland. The kilt-clad Waring led us through our morning nosing with many an amusing tale about his 30 year history in the whisky business., and then after an excellent lunch, Malcolm sat down with me in the library of the Royal Canadian Military Institute for a chat about the whiskies of Old Pulteney.
