Winemaker Shauna White shows us the Adamo Estate Riesling.

Winemaking:

The current release of the 2018 Estate Riesling was harvested in early November when the flavours were fully developed and the acidity was just right. We harvested our Riesling from each block on the same day and selected our harvest date based on the flavours in the grapes. We hand harvested each block to protect the integrity of the fruit and whole cluster pressed in our gentle bladder press. Juice selection was made at the press pan to ensure there was not any over extraction of phenolic flavours from the grape skins. It was cold settled after pressing and then racked into stainless steel for a long, slow fermentation at cool temperatures, to enhance aromatics and preserve fruitiness. The alcoholic fermentation was stopped when the balance was ideal and each fermented wine was then blended together. Our Riesling was then protein stabilized and filtered before bottling.

Appearance:

Pale straw with a clear hue.

Aromas:

A fruit explosion of citrus fruits, tropical fruits and tree fruits fill the glass. A bouquet of honeysuckle flowers, honeycomb and lime zest add complexity and intensity to this Riesling profile. Grapefruit rind, guava, and pineapple notes are underlying in this concentrated wine.

Palate:

Layers of fruit and texture fill the mouth on this very concentrated Riesling. Grapefruit pith, nectarine, apricot and lime zest are layered with subtle texture and balance. Tropical fruits follow: guava, tangerine, keylime, papaya and passion fruit carry the balance of sweetness and refreshing acidity. Our Estate Riesling incorporates a fruit driven palate with a tight focus, mineral notes and medium-long finish. A pleasant medium bodied wine with a
lingering finish that drinks well on its own and pairs with many styles of food.

This wine is available at the winery or through our website.
