Le Sommelier 585

This is a VintagesShopOnline.com Release:

Calling all Oregon Pinot Noir lovers! You don’t want to miss this beauty. Le Cadeau Vineyard is a unique micro-winery located in the Chehalem Mountains AVA of Oregon’s picture perfect Willamette Valley. The 14-acre, high-elevation (610’–725’), vineyard was developed and planted with a singular focus of growing distinctive, complex, estate Pinot Noir.

The Rocheux Pinot Noir fruit comes from the rocky west-side of the vineyard, showcasing the vineyard’s broken volcanic soil. Jacqueline Yoakum, winemaker for this wine, has worked as consulting winemaker for Keller in California and previously with Ted Lemon at Littorai, as his assistant.

Only 127 cases of the 2011 Rocheux were produced, and the LCBO bought 20 of them! It’s pretty special that there is any of this wine available in Ontario at all, considering the winery’s active mailing list that was very enthusiastic about getting their hands on this 93 point Parker wine. Needless to say, there was just a wee bit of negotiating back and forth – yes, just for you!

The wine just went on sale this morning; don’t miss this opportunity to pick some up! Hope you enjoy it, especially with family and friends.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Sincerely,

Bernard Stramwasser

TASTING NOTES

Le Cadeau Vineyard Pinot Noir Rocheux Willamette Valley 2011

11258_LCV_RXPN_10_F“The Le Cadeau 2011 Pinot Noir Rocheux is spirited and bright, with an invigorating tang of berry skin to its tart cherry and a seedy crunch to its red raspberry. Sappy and mouth-filling though lean in texture, it finishes with a mouthwatering influx of salinity as well as notes of juniper berry, sage, black pepper, resin, crushed stone and tar that solidify its sense of stimulating impingement and sheer grip. This ought to perform well through at least 2025.” – Score: 93 (David Schildknecht, erobertparker.com, Oct 2013)

Region: Willamette Valley, Oregon
Price: $65 (per bottle)
