Wakefield Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
$19.95 | LCBO# 744235

At release, the wine is a deep red with a vibrant purple hue. The wine has an aroma of rich blackcurrant, subtle spice, tomato leaf and a touch of eucalypt. French oak maturation is also evident with subtle aromas of cedar and dark chocolate. This is a wine of great intensity. It has distinctive blackcurrant and cassis fruit flavours. Subtle oak characters of cedar cigar box and spice are also evident. The tannins are fine and elegant – a hallmark of the varietal. The palate is well balanced, complex and fulfilling and lingers on the finish.

“Fantastic value under $20 for this Wakefield 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Clare Valley, South Australia. This is a juicy, full-bodied garnet red wine with a spicy nose and rich black fruits, meat, leather, cedar spice and vanilla flavours on the palate. This is your strip loin on the barbie red.” 92 Pts & Best Value – Natalie MacLean, July 10, 2020

Montes Limited Selection Pinot Noir 2018
$14.95 | LCBO# 37937

Ruby red and very bright hue. The nose is expressive and intense with entertaining notes of sour cherries and fresh strawberries, on a background of flowers and wild herbs. Soft aromas and dulce de leche integrate very well with the aromas of the variety. In the mouth it is balanced with a rich natural acidity that makes it juicy and fresh. Its round tannins give it structure and a very pleasant sensation of sweetness. Medium volume and good persistence in the mouth, it provides a fruity finish and very consistent with what is perceived in the nose.

“This has a very fresh, red-cherry nose with a streak of spicy oak that suits the vibrant and fragrant pinot berries. The palate has a very pure core of bright, energetic cherries. Smooth-honed tannins to close. Drink now. Screw cap.” 90 Pts – James Suckling, April 17, 2020
