Nicholas Pearce presents the first in a series of natural wines…

Hi there natural wine folks,

We’ve planned on sending you a series of communications about serious stuff: Super Natural Wines!

This first round is all about Fattoria di Sammontana from Tuscany and Vinessens from Southern Spain, the latest player to join our winning portfolio.

Both are organic, handcrafted and amphora-touched. What else could you ask for?

Vinessens

The brand-new cool kid in our portfolio. Run by Andres Carull, who grows Monastrell and Moscatel vines on the sandy beach soils of Alicante. Their specialty: delicious popular-priced orange wines!

2016 Benimaquia Tinajas $25.95
This maritime flame-hued beauty has the seductive aromas of Moscatel mixed with sapid salinity and phenolic spice-crusted fruit skins. 50 to 70 year old vines on sandy soils by the sea. 6 months of skin-contact in amphoras.

2018 Picofino Red $18.95
Energetic red made from Monastrell. A Mediterranean wine, rustic with earthy, vegetal and spicy scents. Made with old style artisanal methods.

Stay tuned – there are more orange wines to come from the upcoming 2019 vintage!

Fattoria di Sammontana

Discover a super white and an ‘old-styled’ goodie from the creators of the dazzling Alberese.

2018 Primo Fuoco Trebbiano Bianco Toscana IGT $34.95
Born from a curated selection of the best Trebbiano grapes of the farm, this wine is fermented naturally and matured in a large terracotta amphora, handmade from local red clay called “terra rossa”.

2017 Chianti Fiasco DOCG [Available in 1L and 1.5L bottles!]

1L $26.95
1.5L $34.95

A tribute to the typical old days straw covered bottle. While the bottle hasn’t changed, the juice inside undoubtedly has: unfiltered and unoaked Sangiovese and Canaiolo Nero it offers a fascinating bouquet with hints of flowers, spices and red fruits and soft astringent tannins on the palate.
