Champagne Gosset Millesime Brut 2015

Founded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. For 17 generations Gosset was family owned, but in 1993 it was sold to the Cointreau family from Charente, owners of Frappin Cognac. The 2015 blends 59% Pinot Noir and 41% Chardonnay, with a minimum 5 years on lees and a dosage of 5 g/L.

A firm, focused version, this swathes a chiseled spine of acidity in a raw, silky texture and finely meshed flavors of yellow peach, orange liqueur, honeycomb and chopped almond. A rich streak of salinity drives the well-cut, spiced finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2035.” 94 points, Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator

Blomidon Estate Winery Cuvée L’Acadie NV

From their estate vineyard, this was the first NV traditional method L’acadie Blanc, a smart move to cover off the vagaries of vintages in NS. This spent 16 months sur lattes, and was disgorged late 2019 with 7.6 g/L. Ripe pear, perfumed melon, pomelo, candied pink grapefruit is met with 10.2 g/L TA, leaving just a kiss of orchard blossom sweetness in its lingering wake.

*Review below is from the previous bottling

“A 100 per cent estate l’acadie disgorged in March 2020, approx. 65-70 per cent 2017 with 2016 and a splash of 2015, 2,500 bottles caged in August 2018. Dosage is 6 g/L, very Brut, dry as the desert and not just because of a concept in which l’acadie is an acid king, because in fact it can be quite the opposite. A phenolic sparkler, picked early (first in fact) and therefore a self-starter, enthusiastic, cranking and varietally zealous. Last tasted August 2021.” 93 points, Michael Godel, Wine Align
