With more restaurants per capita than nearly any city in Canada, it’s easy to see why food lovers are flocking to Kingston.

It’s less than an hour to Prince Edward County — and wine country, overflowing with local food options and home to dozens of amazing artisans. It’s a great home base for anyone looking to explore the Cheddar & Ale Trail, but it’s equally exciting for history buffs, sports fans and adventure seekers.

Bonus: There are SO MANY Feast ON certified restaurants in town, you’ll never need to wander far to find amazing local food.

So, without teasing you any further — here’s what our perfect weekend in Kingston looks like:

  1. First stop is always and forever lunch. You can’t explore on an empty stomach. Our go-to lunches have to be a margarita pizza at Atomica Pizzeria or if we’re super hungry, any of the amazing burgers at Harper’s Burger Bar. When at Harper’s — you’ve got to try one of their ‘Boozy Floats’. Oatmeal stout and vanilla ice cream? Yes please!
  2. Weekends mean a stop by the Public Square. On Saturdays, you’ll find one of the province’s liveliest farmers’ markets overflowing with locally grown goodies. They also stage weekly chef demos! Come Sunday, the farmers head home and the antique dealers move in. We’ve found many a treasure at the Sunday Flea Market!
  3. If the cold weather is getting you down, the City of Kingston Greenhouse will have you feeling like it’s spring in no time. You can visit on Sunday afternoons between 2pm – 4pm.
  4. We also love The MacLachlan Woodworking Museum. It sounds weird, but it’s actually really interesting! It holds the most extensive, nationally significant collection of woodworking tools in Canada. Plus, the museum lives right by the scenic Grass Creek Park — a great spot to escape and explore!
  5. Dinner means booking a table at Chef Stev George’s Italian eatery: Olivea. An antipasti board and a bowl of housemade fresh pasta — paired perfectly with a glass of County wine — are all we need to declare our Kingston adventure officially off – the – hook!
