Réva Barolo

Nicholas Pearce Wines presents a video greeting from Réva in Barolo…

Réva is a new reality in the Barolo region and was born from a dream made of tradition and dynamism. The winery focuses on producing wines of excellence with extreme attention to the particular characteristics of each grape variety and the utmost respect for diversity.

The winery’s roots go back to 1867. However, in 2010 the winery underwent a thorough reconstruction and the acclaimed Gianluca Colombo became the head oenologist. His plans included expanding the vineyards and planting well-known varieties such as Sauvignon. Despite his youth, Gianluca has a great deal of experience, not just from RÉVA but mainly from his work as part of the team of the celebrated Italian oenologist, Franco Cordero. He works as a consultant to many famous wineries in the Barolo area and he is proud of his small but high-quality wineries. In 2014 Gianluca’s efforts were crowned by obtaining the Premio Gambelli – a prestigious winemaker’s award for winemakers under 35.

In this video, Daniele Gaia, who works with Gianluca, sends his greetings from the vineyards in Barolo and talks about the wines listed below.

Wines available:

Langhe Bianco Grey 2018 – $29.95

Grey is Réva’s unique white wine. 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sauvignon Gris cultivated on  clay and limestone soils, alternating with marl and fossiliferous sandstone. The fermentation is carried out in wooden barrels (30%) and stainless steel tanks (70%). Blending happens in January with bottling taking place in March. Scents of wet stones, passion fruit, citrus and sage. In the mouth the wine is immediate and proud with a powerful acidic kick.

Barbera d’Alba DOC Superiore 2017 – $29.95

On the nose, this wine shows outstanding character with hints of red berries, juicy fruits and vanilla from the long time spent in barrels. Full and persistent flavors of cherries and wild blueberries on the palate with hints of spice and a medium long finish.

Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2017 – $29.95

Light garnet colour. Aromas of fig paste, cherry jam, peony, pomegranate, tack room, and green beans with a slightly chewy, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a tingling, interesting, medium-length red apple, plum, tar, and tobacco finish with grippy tannins and moderate oak. A dry Nebbiolo with a beautiful floral, fruity nose.

Barolo DOC 2015 – $65.95* (6 pack)

91 Points – Wine Enthusiast

Rose petal, red-skinned berry and leather aromas take center stage on this young Barolo. The juicy palate offers Morello cherry, clove and white pepper alongside taut fine-grained tannins. Drink 2021–2029.
