Dr. Cristian Maddalena, the export director for Schiopetto, has come straight from the airport and trans-Atlantic flight that included an unscheduled overnight stop in Frankfurt to the office of his employer’s Ontario agent, Le Sommelier in Liberty Village. And yet, only a minute after we re introduce he begins to speak passionately and with a broad smile about Schiopetto’s key role in the revolution in Italian wine production since the Second World War, that saw bulk growers become estate winemakers.
