A blend of 70% Monastrell (Mourvedre) and 30% Tempranillo gives the El Abuelo Red a profile of black plum and red berries, spice, vanilla, and smoky oak notes. The tannins add texture while avoiding being stiff and last through the persistent finish. A great match for red meats like sausage or steak, cured meats and charcuterie, or semi-cured cheeses.
The El Abuelo Organic Verdejo-Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of 65% Verdejo and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, which merge into aromas and flavours of intense citrus, lime, and tropical fruit, supported by refreshing acidity and a lingering finish. It matches up perfectly to richer seafood dishes like grilled salmon, pan-seared scallops, or chicken dishes. The Piqueras family has honoured the winery’s founder and the family’s grandfather (Abuelo), Louis Piqueras, by using his picture on each label.
